5+ Years Post-Registration Experience

Welcome. I am Mary-Anne. I'm a registered counselling psychologist - I help individuals and couples with their emotional health. I have private and public sector experience as a counselling psychologist. My focus involves depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and relationship problems, as well as the specific challenges experienced by transgender people.

What to Expect

An introductory assessment session helps you to discover if you feel comfortable with me, share what troubles you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and assess if therapy could benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to book a preliminary assessment meeting in City of London, London or Palmers Green, London.

Client Centred Therapy

Client centred therapy concentrates on understanding and supporting you. It facilitates your openness about the worries you experience. Client centred therapy aims to help you find your own answers.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on how your thoughts influence your feelings and actions. It identifies and challenges negative ideas which maintain the issues you encounter. The objective of CBT is for you to have healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates cognitive behavioural therapy for alcohol dependence, anorexia nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), bipolar disorder, bulimia nervosa, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and self harm.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You decide what matter concerning your childhood or adulthood you explore. An aim of counselling is to help you to speak about a problem and discover a way forward that is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Existential Therapy

Existential therapy explores how you comprehend your existence. It encompasses reflection on your viewpoints, potential and options. Existential therapy aims to help you discover significance in your life and the issues you encounter.

Humanistic Therapy

Humanistic therapy focuses on appreciating you. It sees you as a whole human being and prioritises your personal development. Humanistic therapy seeks to help you realise your autonomy.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy centres on the unconscious meaning of the issues you encounter. It facilitates you in being conscious of aspects of your inner dynamics. Psychodynamic therapy seeks to enhance your self-understanding to give you choices.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends psychodynamic therapy for anorexia nervosa, depression and self harm.

Psychology

Psychology is interested in you and your mind, feelings and behaviour. It offers you psychological treatments and mental health support. The objective of psychological therapy is to help you alleviate symptoms.
