What to Expect

An initial assessment appointment enables you to see if you are comfortable with me, share what worries you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and decide if therapy may benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an initial assessment meeting in Sevenoaks.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on how your thoughts (cognitions) influence your feelings and behaviour. It recognises and addresses negative ideas that maintain the issues you encounter. The objective of CBT is for you to have healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends cognitive behavioural therapy for alcohol dependence, anorexia nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), bipolar disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), bulimia nervosa, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and self harm.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You determine what issue regarding your childhood or adulthood you discuss. The objective of counselling is to help you to talk about a problem and find a solution which is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy centres on the unconscious causes of the issues you encounter. It facilitates you in becoming aware of aspects of your internal dynamics. Psychodynamic therapy aims to increase your self-comprehension to give you choices.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends psychodynamic therapy for anorexia nervosa, depression and self harm.

Psychology

Psychology is interested in you and your mind, emotions and behaviour. It offers you psychological interventions and mental wellbeing support. An objective of psychological therapies is to help you ease symptoms.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the problems you confront. It explores your ideas, feelings and relevant moments in your history. Psychotherapy aims to help you change or discover suitable methods of managing.
