13+ Years Post-Chartership Experience

Hello. I am Jane Sargent. I'm a chartered and registered counselling psychologist - I help individuals and couples with their emotional wellbeing. I have private sector experience as a counselling psychologist.

What to Expect

An introductory assessment appointment allows you to see if you feel comfortable with me, share what troubles you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and assess if therapy may assist you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange a preliminary assessment meeting in Raydon, Ipswich.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT concentrates on how your thoughts affect your emotions and behaviour. It identifies and addresses unhelpful thoughts that perpetuate the issues you encounter. The aim of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to have healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates cognitive behavioural therapy for Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), self harm and social anxiety disorder.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You determine what issue concerning your early years and/or adult life you explore. The objective of counselling is to enable you to speak about a problem and find a way forward that is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Psychology is interested in you and your thoughts, emotions and behaviour. It offers you psychological interventions and mental health support. An objective of psychological therapies is to help you ease symptoms.
