10+ Years Post-Chartership Experience

Hello. I'm Jane Lawton. I'm a chartered and registered clinical psychologist - I support individuals with their psychological wellbeing. I have private sector experience as a clinical psychologist. My interest includes alcohol dependence, depression and self esteem, as well as the particular issues experienced by men and women.

What to Expect

An initial assessment session allows you to see if you feel comfortable with me, discuss what concerns you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and decide if therapy may benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an initial assessment session in Sale.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT centres on your responses to your emotions. It encourages your acceptance of your bodily sensations. ACT aims to help you commit yourself to positive change.

Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT)

CAT identifies why your past shapes your current thoughts and feelings. It explores your coping techniques and whether they help or obstruct you. The purpose of cognitive analytic therapy is to help you identify fresh and useful ways ahead.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on how your thoughts influence your emotions and actions. It identifies and addresses unhelpful ideas that perpetuate the issues you encounter. The objective of CBT is for you to experience healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates cognitive behavioural therapy for alcohol dependence, anorexia nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), bipolar disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), bulimia nervosa, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), self harm and social anxiety disorder.

Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR directs your eye movements to stimulate how your brain processes information. The technique attempts to reprocess your frozen traumatic recollections. The aim of eye movement desensitisation reprocessing is to desensitise your upsetting memories.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) suggests eye movement desensitisation reprocessing for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Psychology is interested in you and your thoughts, feelings and behaviour. It offers you psychological interventions and mental wellbeing support. An objective of psychological therapy is to help you alleviate symptoms.

Easy to talk toHelpfulnessValue for Money

"I would like to place on record my heartfelt thanks for how much I appreciated my sessions with Jane and how she helped me through some really difficult times. My decision to stop the therapy is no reflection whatsoever of our sessions as financial commitments notwithstanding, I would have much preferred to continue the sessions, which were always beneficial. To that end, I also commend her honesty and integrity in recommending seeing someone on the NHS, and without question recommend your services to others in the future."
