6+ Years Post-Registration Experience

Welcome. I am Christine Hemsley. I'm a chartered and registered counselling psychologist - I help individuals and couples with their psychological wellbeing. I have private sector experience as a counselling psychologist.

What to Expect

A preliminary assessment session enables you to discover if you feel comfortable with me, discuss what concerns you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and decide if therapy could assist you. Please use a contact option on the right to book an introductory assessment appointment in St. Pauls, London.

Client Centred Therapy

Client centred therapy concentrates on appreciating and supporting you. It encourages your honesty around the concerns you experience. Client centred therapy seeks to help you discover your own solutions.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT concentrates on how your thoughts affect your feelings and actions. It recognises and addresses negative ideas that perpetuate the problems you encounter. The objective of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to have healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends cognitive behavioural therapy for anorexia nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), bipolar disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), bulimia nervosa, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and self harm.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You decide what issue concerning your early years and/or adult life you discuss. An aim of counselling is to enable you to talk about a problem and discover a solution which is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Existential Therapy

Existential therapy investigates how you perceive your existence. It encompasses reflection on your viewpoints, potential and options. Existential therapy aims to help you find meaning in your existence and the problems you encounter.

Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye movement desensitisation reprocessing directs your eye motions to affect how your brain processes information. The technique endeavours to reprocess your locked distressing memories. The objective of eye movement desensitisation reprocessing is to desensitise your painful memories.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) suggests eye movement desensitisation reprocessing for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Humanistic Therapy

Humanistic therapy centres on valuing you. It sees you as a whole human being and emphasises your personal development. Humanistic therapy seeks to help you recognise your freedom.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy centres on the unconscious causes of the issues you encounter. It facilitates you in becoming conscious of aspects of your inner dynamics. Psychodynamic therapy seeks to increase your self-understanding to give you choices.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates psychodynamic therapy for anorexia nervosa, depression and self harm.

Psychology

Psychology is interested in you and your thoughts, feelings and behaviour. It offers you psychological treatments and mental wellbeing support. The objective of psychological therapies is to help you ease symptoms.

Easy to talk toHelpfulnessValue for Money

"Christine is highly intelligent and thoughtful. She guides with subtlety and, where necessary, tests reasoning without being threatening. I was anxious about the whole process but she rapidly put me at my ease and I found the sessions life changing."
