6+ Years Post-Registration Experience

Welcome. I am Alan. I'm a registered clinical psychologist - I help individuals and couples with their psychological health. I have private and public sector experience as a clinical psychologist. My focus includes Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), self esteem and stress, as well as the particular challenges encountered by men.

What to Expect

An initial assessment meeting helps you to discover if you feel comfortable with me, share what troubles you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and assess if therapy could benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to book an initial assessment appointment in Eastbourne.

Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR guides your eye movements to affect how your mind processes information. The technique endeavours to reprocess your locked distressing recollections. The aim of EMDR is to desensitise your painful memories.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) suggests EMDR for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Psychology

Psychology is interested in you and your mind, feelings and actions. It offers you psychological treatments and mental wellbeing support. An objective of psychological therapy is to help you ease symptoms.

Thoughts on Mental Health

In modern life a common cause of anxiety can be a life change. This could be anything from a house move, career change, entering a relationship or a change in our health. Change can often be a time of exploration and personal growth, but it is also a time of doubt and uncertainty. Imagining what the future may bring, you may try to think of difficulties ahead of time and plan how you can manage them. But when you're not sure what may happen, you may find yourself bogged down with a thousand "what if...?" questions. This worry about the future distracts you from your present, can distance you from loved ones and may leave you feeling tense and anxious.
