19+ Years Post-Registration Experience

Hello. I am Aileen. I'm a registered psychotherapist - I support individuals and couples with their emotional wellbeing. I hold private sector experience as a psychotherapist. My focus includes depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), relationship problems and self esteem, as well as the particular issues experienced by Black, gay and mixed ethnic background men and women.

What to Expect

An initial assessment session allows you to discover if you are comfortable with me, discuss what concerns you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and decide if therapy may benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to book a preliminary assessment meeting in Newhaven or East Dulwich, London.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide which matter regarding your childhood or adult life you discuss. The objective of counselling is to help you to speak about a problem and discover a way forward which is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye movement desensitisation reprocessing directs your eye movements to stimulate how your brain processes information. The procedure attempts to reprocess your frozen distressing recollections. The objective of eye movement desensitisation reprocessing is to desensitise your upsetting memories.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends eye movement desensitisation reprocessing for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the problems you face. It explores your ideas, feelings and significant events in your history. Psychotherapy intends to help you develop or discover suitable methods of managing.
