5 Years Post-Accreditation Experience

Welcome. I am Doug. I'm an accredited and registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I assist individuals and couples with their emotional wellbeing. I have private and public sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My focus involves depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and relationship problems, as well as the particular issues experienced by men, transgender people and women.

What to Expect

An introductory assessment appointment helps you to discover if you feel comfortable with me, share what troubles you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and assess if therapy could help you. Please use a contact option on the right to book a preliminary assessment meeting in Bank, London or Forest Hill, London.

Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT)

CAT elucidates how your past affects your present-day thoughts (cognitions) and feelings. It explores your survival techniques and if they help or obstruct you. The intention of CAT is to help you identify fresh and useful ways ahead.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on how your thoughts influence your emotions and actions. It identifies and addresses negative ideas that perpetuate the issues you experience. The objective of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to experience healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends CBT for alcohol dependence, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder and social anxiety disorder.

Counselling

(1 Review)
Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You decide what issue concerning your childhood or adulthood you discuss. An aim of counselling is to enable you to speak about a problem and find a way forward which is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT)

Dynamic interpersonal therapy focuses on your unconscious pattern of relating to people. It establishes a link between your specific pattern and the relationship problem you encounter. The intention of dynamic interpersonal therapy is to help you develop your interpersonal know-how.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the problems you confront. It explores your thoughts, emotions and relevant events in your life. Psychotherapy aims to help you change or find suitable methods of managing.
