16 Years Post-Registration Experience

I have private sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My interest involves abuse, depression and relationship problems, and the specific difficulties encountered by transgender people.

What to Expect

An introductory assessment meeting helps you to discover if you are comfortable with me, share what troubles you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and determine if therapy could assist you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an initial assessment session in Clifton, Bristol.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You determine which matter regarding your childhood or adult life you discuss. An objective of counselling is to help you to speak about a problem and discover a solution that is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Humanistic Therapy

Humanistic therapy centres on valuing you. It considers you as a whole human being and emphasises your personal growth. Humanistic therapy seeks to help you realise your autonomy.

Integrative Therapy

Integrative therapy combines therapies to suit your needs and the issues you experience. It considers your subjective experiences and choices. An aim of integrative therapy is to help you advance your self-understanding.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the problems you confront. It explores your ideas, feelings and relevant moments in your history. Psychotherapy aims to help you develop or discover appropriate methods of coping.

Thoughts on Mental Health

You may want to find a partner or just make friends, but you always end up feeling isolated and envious of other people's ability to do this. In therapy, you commit yourself to a safe setting, where you have the opportunity to explore what stops you from engaging with others. One part of this is your relationship with the therapist, which can help you to understand what is at the core of your behaviour. This may enable you to become aware of old patterns of relating and give you the opportunity to deal with relationships in a different way.
