14+ Years Post-Registration Experience

Hello. I'm Diane Burley. I'm an accredited and registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I assist individuals with their mental wellbeing. I have private sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My focus involves anger, relationship problems and self esteem, as well as the specific issues experienced by men and women.

What to Expect

A preliminary assessment meeting enables you to see if you are comfortable with me, discuss what concerns you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and assess if therapy may assist you. Please use a contact option on the right to book a preliminary assessment meeting in Highgate, London.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy focuses on how your thoughts influence your emotions and actions. It identifies and challenges negative ideas which perpetuate the problems you encounter. The aim of CBT is for you to have healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends CBT for depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), panic disorder and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You decide what issue regarding your childhood or adulthood you discuss. An aim of counselling is to enable you to talk about a difficulty and find a solution which is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the problems you face. It explores your ideas, emotions and significant events in your history. Psychotherapy intends to help you develop or find suitable ways of coping.
