6+ Years Post-Accreditation Experience

Welcome. I'm David. I'm an accredited and registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I support individuals and couples with their emotional health. I hold private sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My focus includes anger, depression and relationship problems, and the specific challenges faced by women.

What to Expect

A preliminary assessment appointment enables you to see if you are comfortable with me, discuss what troubles you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and determine if therapy may help you. Please use a contact option on the right to book a preliminary assessment meeting in Bedford.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You decide which issue regarding your childhood and/or adult life you explore. The objective of counselling is to help you to talk about a difficulty and discover a way forward that is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the problems you confront. It explores your thoughts, feelings and significant events in your history. Psychotherapy aims to help you develop or find appropriate methods of managing.

Thoughts on Mental Health

Clients appreciate mindfulness as something practical, quick and accessible that they can apply in any moment to make a difference. I use the three minute breathing space technique, as defined by Jon Kabat†Zinn, enabling clients to take the time to tune in to what is happening in the present moment and look at ways of reaching forward into the next. Working with clients in the depths of anxiety and, increasingly, with issues surrounding anger management, I have found that mindfulness not only brings relief but also opportunities for choice of action and response. One client reported: 'I feel more connected with myself, calmer, and that I have more choices'.
