11+ Years Post-Accreditation Experience

Hi. I'm Christopher. I'm a senior accredited and registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I support individuals and couples with their emotional wellbeing. I have private, public and voluntary sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My interest includes anger, depression and Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), and the particular challenges faced by men and women.

What to Expect

A preliminary assessment meeting enables you to discover if you feel comfortable with me, discuss what troubles you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and determine if therapy could help you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an initial assessment appointment in Balham, London.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You decide which issue regarding your childhood and/or adulthood you explore. An aim of counselling is to enable you to speak about a problem and find a solution that is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Integrative Therapy

Integrative therapy selects therapies to suit your needs and the problems you encounter. It considers your personal experience and options. An aim of integrative therapy is to help you develop your self-awareness.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the problems you face. It considers your ideas, emotions and relevant moments in your life. Psychotherapy intends to help you change or find appropriate ways of managing.

Systemic Therapy

Systemic therapy focuses on the organisation of interactions between you and others. It addresses the interactions which perpetuate the relationship problems you encounter. Systemic therapy intends to help you enhance how you interact with others.

Thoughts on Mental Health

Alcohol becomes unhealthy when you cannot tolerate your feelings, thoughts and emotions without it. Coping with life using alcohol can be learnt at an early age through experimenting and peer pressure. You may then never learn how to cope with such life experiences as relationships, social and other anxiety, depression, loss, anger, joy, celebration, failure, rejection, or just how to fill the abyss of boredom, without alcohol to anaesthetise the 'bad', or prolong and enhance the 'good'. Using alcohol as a prop can also be learnt in later life; it becomes the one-time friend, the confidence booster, the magic persona creator. Rather than a temporary prop, this may become a permanent fixture, and the price for this can be high.
