15+ Years Post-Accreditation Experience

Welcome. I'm Christine Perry. I'm an accredited and registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I assist individuals with their mental health. I hold private sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist.

What to Expect

An initial assessment meeting enables you to see if you are comfortable with me, discuss what worries you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and decide if therapy could benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange a preliminary assessment session in Parkstone, Poole or Ringwood.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy concentrates on how your thoughts (cognitions) affect your emotions and behaviour. It identifies and addresses unhelpful ideas which maintain the problems you encounter. The objective of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to experience healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends CBT for alcohol dependence, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and self harm.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide which issue regarding your early years or adult life you discuss. An objective of counselling is to enable you to speak about a difficulty and find a solution that is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the difficulties you confront. It considers your ideas, emotions and significant moments in your life. Psychotherapy intends to help you change or find suitable ways of coping.
