Hello. I am Carol Gordon. I'm a registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I support individuals and couples with their emotional wellbeing. I hold private and voluntary sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My interest includes depression, as well as the particular difficulties experienced by gay women.

What to Expect

An introductory assessment appointment enables you to see if you feel comfortable with me, share what worries you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and decide if therapy may help you. Client Centred Therapy

Client centred therapy focuses on understanding and supporting you. It encourages your openness around the worries you experience. Client centred therapy aims to help you discover your own answers.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT concentrates on how your thoughts (cognitions) affect your feelings and actions. It identifies and challenges negative ideas that perpetuate the issues you experience. The aim of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to experience healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates CBT for Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), self harm and social anxiety disorder.


Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide which issue regarding your childhood or adult life you explore. The aim of counselling is to help you to speak about a difficulty and find a solution that is appropriate for you.

Existential Therapy

Existential therapy explores how you perceive your existence. It encompasses reflection on your viewpoints, capacities and choices. Existential therapy seeks to help you discover significance in your existence and the issues you encounter.


Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the problems you confront. It considers your thoughts, emotions and relevant events in your life. Psychotherapy aims to help you change or find appropriate ways of managing.

Easy to talk toHelpfulnessValue for Money

"Carol is extremely good at using lucid terms, to articulate what is happening to me. She offers practical and simple solutions that are easy to enact while I endeavour to work on how to move forward with life. I do not feel rushed to create change, however. Carol also has helped by creating a space where I do not feel like my problems are insurmountable, or idiotic."
