7+ Years Post-Registration Experience

Hi. I'm Bronwyn Daffern. I'm a registered psychotherapeutic counsellor - I help individuals with their emotional health. I have private and voluntary sector experience as a psychotherapeutic counsellor. My focus includes bereavement, depression and relationship problems, and the particular difficulties experienced by men and women.

What to Expect

An initial assessment session helps you to discover if you feel comfortable with me, discuss what concerns you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and determine if therapy could benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to book an initial assessment appointment in Edgbaston, Birmingham or Hall Green, Birmingham.

Client Centred Therapy

Client centred therapy concentrates on appreciating and accepting you. It facilitates your honesty about the worries you encounter. Client centred therapy aims to help you discover your own solutions.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on how your thoughts (cognitions) affect your feelings and actions. It recognises and challenges negative ideas that maintain the problems you experience. The objective of CBT is for you to have healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates CBT for Binge Eating Disorder (BED), depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), self harm and social anxiety disorder.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You determine which issue concerning your early years or adult life you discuss. The aim of counselling is to enable you to talk about a problem and find a solution that is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Gestalt Therapy

Gestalt therapy considers the entire you. It centres on what it means to be you experiencing the present. The intention of gestalt therapy is to help you elevate your awareness.

Humanistic Therapy

Humanistic therapy centres on appreciating you. It sees you as a whole human being and prioritises your personal growth. Humanistic therapy aims to help you recognise your freedom.

Integrative Therapy

Integrative therapy combines therapeutic approaches to fit your needs and the problems you encounter. It explores your subjective experiences and choices. An aim of integrative therapy is to help you develop your self-understanding.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy focuses on the unconscious meaning of the issues you experience. It facilitates you in being aware of aspects of your internal dynamics. Psychodynamic therapy aims to enhance your self-comprehension to give you options.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends psychodynamic therapy for depression, self harm and social anxiety disorder.

Psychosexual Therapy

Psychosexual therapy focuses on understanding the sexual difficulties you encounter. When appropriate, you complete treatment tasks privately in your home. Psychosexual therapy seeks to help you alleviate sexual difficulties.

Transpersonal Therapy

Transpersonal therapy considers your intellect, body and soul. It views the problems you encounter as opportunities for you to transform. Transpersonal therapy aims to help you recognise your human ability.
