Welcome. I'm Brian. I'm a chartered and registered counselling psychologist and an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) psychotherapist - I help individuals and couples with their mental health. I have private, public and voluntary sector experience as a counselling psychologist and a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) psychotherapist. My interest involves depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and social anxiety disorder, as well as the particular difficulties experienced by heterosexual men.

Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT)

Cognitive analytic therapy elucidates how your past affects your current thoughts and feelings. It explores your survival strategies and if they help or hinder you. The intention of cognitive analytic therapy is to help you discover new and beneficial ways forward.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT concentrates on how your thoughts influence your feelings and actions. It identifies and challenges unhelpful thoughts which maintain the problems you experience. The aim of CBT is for you to experience healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates CBT for Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and social anxiety disorder.


Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You determine which issue concerning your early years and/or adult life you discuss. An objective of counselling is to help you to talk about a difficulty and discover a solution that is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Existential Therapy

Existential therapy explores how you perceive your life. It involves deliberation on your perspectives, capacities and choices. Existential therapy aims to help you discover significance in your life and the problems you encounter.


Psychology is interested in you and your mind, feelings and actions. It offers you psychological treatments and mental health support. An intention of psychological therapy is to help you alleviate symptoms.


Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the problems you confront. It considers your ideas, emotions and significant moments in your life. Psychotherapy intends to help you change or discover appropriate ways of coping.
