6+ Years Post-Registration Experience

Hello. I'm Andrea Rickman. I'm an accredited and registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I assist individuals and couples with their mental wellbeing. I have private, public and voluntary sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My focus involves abuse, anger, bereavement and depression, as well as the particular challenges experienced by bisexual, gay and heterosexual men, transgender people and women.

What to Expect

An initial assessment meeting helps you to discover if you are comfortable with me, discuss what troubles you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and determine if therapy could assist you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange a preliminary assessment meeting in Christchurch.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You determine which issue concerning your childhood or adulthood you explore. An aim of counselling is to enable you to speak about a difficulty and find a way forward that is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy focuses on the unconscious meaning of the issues you encounter. It facilitates you in becoming aware of aspects of your internal dynamics. Psychodynamic therapy aims to enhance your self-comprehension to give you options.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends psychodynamic therapy for depression and self harm.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the problems you confront. It considers your thoughts, emotions and relevant events in your history. Psychotherapy aims to help you develop or find appropriate ways of managing.
