More Detail

12+ Years Post-Registration Experience

Welcome. I'm Ameera. I'm a registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I help individuals with their emotional wellbeing. I have private sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My interest involves anorexia nervosa, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and the specific problems faced by men, transgender people and women.

What to Expect

An introductory assessment session allows you to discover if you feel comfortable with me, share what concerns you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and decide if therapy could benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange a preliminary assessment session in Bromley.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on how your thoughts influence your emotions and actions. It recognises and addresses negative thoughts which maintain the issues you encounter. The objective of CBT is for you to have healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates cognitive behavioural therapy for anorexia nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), bipolar disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), bulimia nervosa, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and social anxiety disorder.

Counselling

(1 Review)
Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You decide what matter concerning your early years and/or adult life you explore. An objective of counselling is to enable you to talk about a problem and find a solution which is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Humanistic Therapy

Humanistic therapy focuses on valuing you. It considers you as a whole person and prioritises your unique development. Humanistic therapy seeks to help you realise your freedom.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy focuses on the unconscious causes of the issues you experience. It facilitates you in being conscious of aspects of your internal dynamics. Psychodynamic therapy aims to increase your self-understanding to give you options.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates psychodynamic therapy for anorexia nervosa, depression and social anxiety disorder.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the problems you confront. It explores your ideas, emotions and relevant events in your history. Psychotherapy intends to help you change or find appropriate methods of coping.

Easy to talk toHelpfulnessValue for Money

"Ameera's vast knowledge allows her to enlighten me whenever I raise issues. Due to her articulate and personable delivery I am finding the changes I make enjoyable to implement. Ameera is able to give me a much more detailed, almost scientific perspective inducing answers to questions I've had for a long time; how can one reduce constant anxiety, how can one calm the internal voice etc. And I am thoroughly grateful to her. Easy to talk toHelpfulnessValue for Money

"I first came to Ameera after a long period of chronic stress which was becoming increasingly difficult to deal with on a daily basis. From the first meeting that I had with Ameera and explaining some of the issues that I was experiencing she put me at ease and I felt confident that she would be able to help me. Using various methods and techniques I have increasingly felt that I have the tools that I need to change the way I see situations and people and this improves on a weekly basis. I find Ameera very easy to talk to about any subject or worry and I don't think I have left one of my sessions without a smile on my face or having laughed at least once. I look forward to my sessions and Iím excited about the further improvements i will be making with Ameera's help."

Easy to talk toHelpfulnessValue for Money

"I had my first counselling/therapy experience with Ameera who put me at ease instantly and was very easy to talk to. She approached the sessions with a clear view of what I wanted to achieve, which was reviewed regularly to ensure we were working towards my aims and looking at how we could change or improve anything to help me achieve my goals. Ameera was excellent at providing me with useful techniques to use in everyday situations, so that I wasn't solely reliant on our weekly/fortnightly sessions, but could become self-sufficient. Ameera was versatile in her methods and worked to see which methods worked best for me during our sessions. The benefits I have gained from our sessions have been significant and feel I am able to put into practice techniques Ameera has helped me to learn. As a benefit of our sessions, my mindset has changed for the better and I am able to manage situations from a more positive standpoint that I had not been able to do in years. We are 2.5. months into our sessions and look forward to the benefits to be gained from further sessions."
