15+ Years Post-Accreditation Experience

Hi. I'm Alison Cumming. I'm a senior accredited and registered counsellor and a registered psychotherapist - I support individuals and couples with their mental wellbeing. I hold private sector experience as a counsellor and a psychotherapist. My interest involves relationship problems, as well as the particular issues encountered by men and women.

What to Expect

A preliminary assessment meeting allows you to discover if you are comfortable with me, share what concerns you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and assess if therapy could help you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an introductory assessment appointment in Lanark.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You determine what issue concerning your childhood or adult life you discuss. The aim of counselling is to help you to talk about a problem and find a way forward which is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Integrative Therapy

Integrative therapy selects therapies to fit your preferences and the problems you encounter. It explores your personal experiences and choices. An aim of integrative therapy is to help you develop your self-understanding.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the problems you confront. It considers your ideas, feelings and significant events in your life. Psychotherapy intends to help you change or find appropriate ways of coping.
