Over 8 Years Post-Accreditation Experience

Hello. I am Wendy. I'm an accredited and registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I support individuals, couples and families with their emotional wellbeing. I hold private sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist.

What to Expect

An initial assessment appointment allows you to see if you are comfortable with me, share what troubles you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and determine if therapy may benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange a preliminary assessment appointment in Smithills, Bolton.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT concentrates on how your thoughts (cognitions) affect your emotions and actions. It identifies and addresses negative thoughts which perpetuate the issues you encounter. The aim of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to experience healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) suggests cognitive behavioural therapy for anorexia nervosa, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Binge Eating Disorder (BED), bulimia nervosa, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), self harm and substance dependence.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide what issue regarding your early years or adulthood you discuss. An objective of counselling is to enable you to talk about a problem and discover a way forward which is appropriate for you.

Integrative Therapy

Integrative therapy combines therapies to suit your preferences and the problems you encounter. It explores your personal experience and choices. The aim of integrative therapy is to help you advance your self-awareness.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the difficulties you face. It explores your thoughts, feelings and significant events in your history. Psychotherapy intends to help you change or discover suitable methods of managing.
