More Detail

Over 7 Years Post-Accreditation Experience

Hello. I'm Vivien Blackford. I'm an accredited and registered counsellor - I support individuals with their psychological health. I hold private sector experience as a counsellor.

What to Expect

A preliminary assessment appointment enables you to discover if you feel comfortable with me, share what troubles you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and decide if therapy may help you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an introductory assessment appointment in Three Bridges, Crawley.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy concentrates on how your thoughts (cognitions) influence your feelings and behaviour. It identifies and challenges negative ideas that perpetuate the problems you encounter. The objective of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to have healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates CBT for anorexia nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), bulimia nervosa, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) (ME), depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), self harm and substance dependence.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide what matter concerning your early years and/or adult life you discuss. An aim of counselling is to help you to speak about a difficulty and find a solution which is right for you.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy centres on the unconscious causes of the issues you experience. It facilitates you in being aware of parts of your inner dynamics. Psychodynamic therapy seeks to enhance your self-comprehension to give you choices.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates psychodynamic therapy for anorexia nervosa, depression, self harm and substance dependence.
