More Detail

Over 6 Years Post-Accreditation Experience

Hello. I am Tonia Garrett. I'm an accredited and registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I assist individuals and couples with their psychological wellbeing. I hold private sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My interest includes abuse, bereavement, depression and Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), as well as the particular obstacles encountered by men and women.

What to Expect

An introductory assessment appointment enables you to discover if you are comfortable with me, share what worries you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and determine if therapy could help you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an initial assessment meeting in Northwood or Ruislip.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on how your thoughts affect your feelings and actions. It identifies and addresses unhelpful thoughts which perpetuate the problems you encounter. The aim of CBT is for you to experience healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates cognitive behavioural therapy for alcohol dependence, anorexia nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), bipolar disorder, bulimia nervosa, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) (ME), depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), self harm and substance dependence.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You determine what issue concerning your early years and/or adult life you explore. An objective of counselling is to help you to speak about a difficulty and discover a way forward that is right for you.

Humanistic Therapy

Humanistic therapy focuses on appreciating you. It sees you as a whole person and emphasises your unique development. Humanistic therapy seeks to help you recognise your autonomy.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the difficulties you face. It explores your ideas, emotions and significant events in your life. Psychotherapy aims to help you change or find suitable ways of coping.
