What to Expect

An initial assessment meeting helps you to see if you feel comfortable with me, share what concerns you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and assess if therapy could help you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an initial assessment session in Chapel Allerton, Leeds.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT concentrates on how your thoughts (cognitions) affect your emotions and behaviour. It identifies and challenges unhelpful thoughts which perpetuate the problems you encounter. The aim of CBT is for you to experience healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) suggests CBT for alcohol dependence, anorexia nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), bipolar disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), bulimia nervosa, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) (ME), depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), self harm and substance dependence.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the difficulties you confront. It considers your thoughts, feelings and relevant events in your life. Psychotherapy aims to help you develop or discover appropriate methods of managing.
