More Detail

Over 12 Years Post-Accreditation Experience

Welcome. I'm Susan. I'm an accredited and registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I help individuals and couples with their mental wellbeing. I hold private sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My focus involves stress, and the particular issues experienced by women.

What to Expect

An introductory assessment session helps you to discover if you feel comfortable with me, discuss what troubles you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and decide if therapy could benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to book a preliminary assessment meeting in Chester.

Client Centred Therapy

Client centred therapy focuses on appreciating and supporting you. It encourages your openness around the worries you experience. Client centred therapy aims to help you find your own answers.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy concentrates on how your thoughts influence your emotions and actions. It recognises and addresses unhelpful ideas which perpetuate the problems you experience. The aim of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to have healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates cognitive behavioural therapy for depression and panic disorder.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You determine what issue concerning your early years or adult life you explore. An aim of counselling is to help you to talk about a problem and find a way forward that is appropriate for you.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the problems you face. It explores your thoughts, emotions and relevant events in your life. Psychotherapy intends to help you change or find appropriate methods of coping.
