Over 5 Years Post-Registration Experience

Hello. I'm Sonia Winifred. I'm a registered psychotherapist - I assist individuals and couples with their psychological wellbeing. I have private sector experience as a psychotherapist. My interest includes self harm, as well as the particular problems faced by mixed ethnic background women.

What to Expect

An introductory assessment meeting helps you to see if you feel comfortable with me, discuss what concerns you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and assess if therapy may benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to book an initial assessment session in Brixton Hill, London.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT concentrates on how your thoughts (cognitions) affect your feelings and actions. It identifies and addresses unhelpful thoughts that perpetuate the issues you encounter. The objective of CBT is for you to experience healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) suggests cognitive behavioural therapy for depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), panic disorder and self harm.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy focuses on the unconscious causes of the problems you experience. It facilitates you in becoming aware of aspects of your inner dynamics. Psychodynamic therapy aims to increase your self-understanding to give you options.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends psychodynamic therapy for depression and self harm.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the difficulties you confront. It considers your ideas, feelings and relevant events in your history. Psychotherapy intends to help you develop or find appropriate ways of coping.
