More Detail

Clinical Experience

Hello. My name is Punam Sood. I am a UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Registered Psychotherapist. I assist people, each one unique, to work through their difficulties. My private Therapy consulting room is based in Waterloo, London.

I have been a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist since February 1999 so I have over 15 years and 6 months of post-registration experience of assisting clients. I work with Individuals and Groups. I am highly experienced in providing Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) and Psychotherapy to people from different backgrounds and cultures, and assisting with the particular challenges they face. I also have experience as a NHS Hospital Psychotherapist.

What to Expect

After an initial assessment in Waterloo, London, there is no obligation to proceed if you decide not to. As Client and Therapist, we can take the opportunity to discuss the particular challenges for which you require Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) or Psychotherapy. I will discuss confidentiality with you and address any questions you may have. We can see how well we work together. You and I will then be able to establish if my mental health practice is right for you.

Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR directs your eye motions to affect how your mind processes data. The technique endeavours to reprocess your frozen traumatic recollections. The objective of Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing is to desensitise your upsetting memories.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the problems you confront. It considers your ideas, emotions and relevant events in your life. Psychotherapy aims to help you change or discover appropriate methods of coping.
