More Detail

Over 9 Years Post-Chartership Experience

Welcome. I am Pier Luigi. I'm a registered counselling psychologist - I help individuals and couples with their psychological wellbeing. I have private and public sector experience as a counselling psychologist. My focus involves depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and self esteem, as well as the specific difficulties encountered by gay men, transgender people and women.

What to Expect

An introductory assessment session helps you to see if you feel comfortable with me, share what concerns you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and determine if therapy could help you. Please use a contact option on the right to book an initial assessment appointment in Oxford Circus, London or Kilburn, London.

Client Centred Therapy

Client centred therapy concentrates on understanding and accepting you. It facilitates your openness about the worries you encounter. Client centred therapy seeks to help you discover your own solutions.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on how your thoughts influence your feelings and actions. It recognises and addresses unhelpful thoughts which maintain the problems you encounter. The aim of CBT is for you to experience healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates cognitive behavioural therapy for alcohol dependence, anorexia nervosa, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Binge Eating Disorder (BED), bipolar disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), bulimia nervosa, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) (ME), depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), self harm, social anxiety disorder and substance dependence.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide which issue regarding your early years and/or adult life you explore. An aim of counselling is to help you to talk about a difficulty and find a way forward which is appropriate for you.

Humanistic Therapy

Humanistic therapy focuses on valuing you. It considers you as a whole human being and emphasises your personal development. Humanistic therapy seeks to help you realise your freedom.

Integrative Therapy

Integrative therapy selects therapies to suit your preferences and the issues you encounter. It explores your personal experiences and options. The aim of integrative therapy is to help you advance your self-understanding.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy focuses on the unconscious meaning of the issues you experience. It facilitates you in becoming aware of parts of your inner dynamics. Psychodynamic therapy aims to increase your self-understanding to give you options.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends psychodynamic therapy for anorexia nervosa, depression, self harm, social anxiety disorder and substance dependence.

Psychology

Psychology is interested in you and your mind, feelings and behaviour. It offers you psychological interventions and mental health support. The intention of psychological therapy is to help you ease symptoms.

Solution Focused Therapy (SFT)

Solution focused therapy focuses on discovering solutions for the issues you experience. It examines what assists you, and which actions you could make to implement change. The purpose of solution focused therapy is to help you recognise and use your personal strengths.
