4+ Years Post-Registration Experience

Welcome. I am Lyn. I'm a registered counsellor - I support individuals with their mental health. I hold private and voluntary sector experience as a counsellor. My interest includes bereavement, depression and self esteem, and the specific problems faced by men and women.

What to Expect

An introductory assessment session enables you to see if you feel comfortable with me, discuss what concerns you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and decide if therapy could help you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an introductory assessment session in Wilmslow.

Client Centred Therapy

Client centred therapy concentrates on appreciating and supporting you. It facilitates your honesty about the concerns you encounter. Client centred therapy seeks to help you discover your own answers.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on how your thoughts (cognitions) influence your emotions and behaviour. It recognises and addresses unhelpful thoughts that maintain the problems you experience. The aim of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to experience healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) suggests cognitive behavioural therapy for depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and social anxiety disorder.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide which issue concerning your childhood or adult life you explore. The aim of counselling is to enable you to talk about a problem and find a way forward that is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Existential Therapy

Existential therapy investigates how you perceive your life. It encompasses reflection on your viewpoints, potential and choices. Existential therapy aims to help you discover meaning in your life and the problems you experience.

Integrative Therapy

Integrative therapy combines therapeutic approaches to fit your preferences and the issues you experience. It explores your personal experiences and choices. The aim of integrative therapy is to help you advance your self-understanding.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy focuses on the unconscious meaning of the problems you encounter. It facilitates you in being conscious of aspects of your internal dynamics. Psychodynamic therapy seeks to enhance your self-understanding to give you choices.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates psychodynamic therapy for depression and social anxiety disorder.
