What to Expect

An introductory assessment session allows you to see if you feel comfortable with me, discuss what troubles you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and decide if therapy may assist you. Client Centred Therapy

Client centred therapy focuses on understanding and accepting you. It facilitates your openness around the worries you experience. Client centred therapy aims to help you find your own answers.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy concentrates on how your thoughts affect your feelings and behaviour. It recognises and addresses unhelpful thoughts which perpetuate the problems you encounter. The aim of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to experience healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) suggests cognitive behavioural therapy for alcohol dependence, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), self harm and substance dependence.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide what issue regarding your childhood or adulthood you discuss. An aim of counselling is to help you to talk about a problem and find a solution which is right for you.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the problems you confront. It explores your thoughts, emotions and relevant events in your life. Psychotherapy intends to help you develop or find suitable methods of coping.
