More Detail

Over 4 Years Post-Registration Experience

Welcome. I am Katie Barker-Dovison. I'm a registered psychotherapist - I support individuals with their emotional wellbeing. I hold private sector experience as a psychotherapist. My focus includes relationship problems, self esteem and stress, and the specific problems encountered by men and women.

What to Expect

An introductory assessment meeting allows you to see if you are comfortable with me, discuss what troubles you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and assess if therapy could assist you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an initial assessment session in Shardlow, Derby.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You decide what matter concerning your childhood or adulthood you explore. The objective of counselling is to enable you to talk about a problem and find a solution that is right for you.

Integrative Therapy

Integrative therapy combines therapeutic approaches to suit your needs and the problems you encounter. It explores your subjective experience and options. The aim of integrative therapy is to help you develop your self-understanding.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the problems you face. It considers your thoughts, emotions and significant moments in your history. Psychotherapy aims to help you develop or find suitable ways of coping.

Thoughts on Mental Health

If you have experienced historic trauma that you haven't been able to process, or if you find yourself experiencing current trauma, such as an accident, crime, or illness then therapy can help you to learn healthy ways to cope.
