Clinical Experience

Hello. My name is Kate McAndrew. I am a UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Registered Psychotherapist and a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I work with people to help them make sense of the thoughts and emotions they experience. My private Therapy practice is located in Whatton, Nottingham. I also practise in Sherwood, Nottingham.

I have been a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist since September 2008 and a BACP Registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist since September 2013, so I have more than 6 years and 7 months of post-registration experience of working with clients. I also gained experience of working with clients as part of my training. I work with Individuals and Couples. I'm experienced in working with people from different backgrounds and cultures, and helping with the particular difficulties they face. My specialist experience is in Personal Development, Relationship Problems and Stress. I also have experience as a Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), GP Surgery, School and University Counsellor and Psychotherapist.

What to Expect

After an initial appointment in Whatton, Nottingham, there is no obligation to continue if you prefer not to. We can use the time to explore the particular difficulties for which you are considering Client Centred Therapy, Counselling, Humanistic Therapy or Psychotherapy. I will discuss confidentiality with you and address any questions you may have. You can see how you feel working with me. You and I will then be able to decide if my mental health practice is right for you.

Client Centred Therapy

Client Centred Therapy concentrates on appreciating and supporting you. It encourages your openness about the worries you experience. Client Centred Therapy seeks to help you find your own solutions.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide which issue concerning your childhood or adulthood you explore. The objective of Counselling is to help you to speak about a difficulty and find a solution that is right for you.

Humanistic Therapy

Humanistic Therapy focuses on appreciating you. It sees you as a whole human being and prioritises your personal development. Humanistic Therapy seeks to help you recognise your autonomy.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the difficulties you face. It considers your ideas, emotions and relevant events in your history. Psychotherapy aims to help you change or discover suitable ways of managing.
