More Detail

3+ Years Post-Registration Experience

Welcome. I'm Karen Dinmore. I'm a registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I assist individuals and couples with their mental health. I hold private sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My focus includes depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and the specific challenges faced by men and women.

What to Expect

An introductory assessment meeting enables you to discover if you are comfortable with me, share what concerns you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and assess if therapy could assist you. Please use a contact option on the right to book a preliminary assessment session in West End, London.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT concentrates on how your thoughts (cognitions) affect your feelings and actions. It recognises and addresses negative thoughts that maintain the issues you experience. The objective of CBT is for you to experience healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) suggests cognitive behavioural therapy for bipolar disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), self harm and social anxiety disorder.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You determine what matter concerning your early years or adulthood you explore. The aim of counselling is to help you to speak about a difficulty and find a solution that is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the problems you face. It considers your thoughts, emotions and significant moments in your history. Psychotherapy aims to help you change or find suitable ways of coping.
