More Detail

Over 21 Years Post-Registration Experience

Welcome. I'm Joan. I'm a senior accredited and registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I assist individuals and couples with their emotional health. I hold private sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My focus includes relationship problems, and the particular challenges encountered by men.

What to Expect

An initial assessment meeting enables you to see if you are comfortable with me, share what troubles you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and determine if therapy could benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to book a preliminary assessment appointment in Hemel Hempstead.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You decide which matter concerning your childhood or adulthood you explore. An aim of counselling is to enable you to speak about a problem and discover a way forward which is appropriate for you.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy centres on the unconscious causes of the issues you experience. It facilitates you in being conscious of aspects of your inner dynamics. Psychodynamic therapy aims to enhance your self-comprehension to give you options.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) suggests psychodynamic therapy for depression and self harm.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the difficulties you face. It considers your ideas, feelings and relevant events in your history. Psychotherapy intends to help you develop or find appropriate ways of coping.
