More Detail

Over 7 Years Post-Accreditation Experience

Welcome. I am Janice Wells. I'm an accredited and registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I support individuals and couples with their emotional wellbeing. I hold private and public sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My interest involves abuse, as well as the specific issues faced by women.

What to Expect

An initial assessment session helps you to see if you feel comfortable with me, share what concerns you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and assess if therapy could assist you. Please use a contact option on the right to book a preliminary assessment session in Wanstead, London.

Client Centred Therapy

Client centred therapy focuses on appreciating and accepting you. It encourages your honesty around the worries you experience. Client centred therapy seeks to help you discover your own answers.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You determine which matter concerning your early years and/or adulthood you explore. An objective of counselling is to enable you to speak about a problem and find a solution that is right for you.

Integrative Therapy

Integrative therapy combines therapeutic approaches to fit your needs and the issues you encounter. It explores your personal experiences and options. An aim of integrative therapy is to help you develop your self-awareness.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the problems you face. It explores your thoughts, feelings and relevant moments in your life. Psychotherapy intends to help you change or discover appropriate ways of managing.

Thoughts on Mental Health

The loss of a parent can be life changing, and may be one of the most significant deaths that any of us have to face, especially if a close attachment exists. The grief may feel primal and your loss may feel like 'abandonment' or being 'orphaned'. This can impact you, leaving you feeling 'alone' in the world, especially where no siblings exist or, conversely, where sibling rivalries or other issues exist. The death of a parent can unite a family, but can often lead to family members going 'their own way' and losing contact with each other. Bereavement may also remind you of your own mortality, especially when you step into the role of family elder and there is no longer anyone to consult with or to offer you wise advise.
