4+ Years Post-Registration Experience

Welcome. I'm Jane. I'm a registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I help individuals with their psychological health. I have private sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist. My focus includes Binge Eating Disorder (BED), depression and self esteem, and the particular difficulties experienced by men and women.

What to Expect

An introductory assessment session enables you to discover if you are comfortable with me, share what worries you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and determine if therapy could benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange a preliminary assessment meeting in Saxilby, Lincoln.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You decide which issue concerning your childhood or adulthood you explore. The aim of counselling is to enable you to speak about a difficulty and find a way forward that is right for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the difficulties you confront. It considers your thoughts, emotions and relevant moments in your life. Psychotherapy aims to help you change or find suitable ways of coping.

Thoughts on Mental Health

At work, someone keeps using your coffee without asking; is it wrong to feel angry? No, it's a perfectly appropriate response.†If you don't say anything you will start to feel resentful, and this will grow and grow until the anger bursts out, which leaves you feeling out of control. If you have difficulty expressing your anger appropriately, therapy may help. Through therapy you can learn that it's okay to be angry (as long as it doesn't spiral into aggression), but also that anger is a perfectly normal emotion, and can actually be very positive as it brings about change.†The key is recognising exactly what you're angry about; it's not that you don't want people using your coffee - you're quite happy to share it - but taking it without being asked is disrespectful. THAT'S why you are angry!†
