More Detail

Over 12 Years Post-Accreditation Experience

Welcome. I am Helen. I'm a senior accredited counsellor and psychotherapist - I help individuals and couples with their emotional wellbeing. I have private sector experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist.

What to Expect

An introductory assessment session helps you to discover if you are comfortable with me, share what concerns you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and decide if therapy could benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to book an introductory assessment session in Nailsea, Bristol.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy focuses on how your thoughts (cognitions) influence your emotions and behaviour. It recognises and addresses unhelpful thoughts which maintain the problems you experience. The aim of CBT is for you to have healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates cognitive behavioural therapy for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) (ME), depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and panic disorder.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You decide which issue regarding your early years or adult life you discuss. An aim of counselling is to help you to speak about a problem and discover a solution which is right for you.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the problems you confront. It explores your thoughts, feelings and significant moments in your life. Psychotherapy intends to help you change or discover suitable ways of coping.
