More Detail

Over 14 Years Post-Chartership Experience

Welcome. I'm Graham. I'm an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) psychotherapist and a chartered and registered counselling psychologist - I help individuals, couples and families with their emotional wellbeing. I hold private and public sector experience as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) psychotherapist and a counselling psychologist.

What to Expect

An initial assessment session enables you to discover if you feel comfortable with me, discuss what troubles you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and determine if therapy could benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to book an introductory assessment session in Maida Vale, London or Leatherhead.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT centres on your responses to your emotions. It encourages your acceptance of your physical sensations. Acceptance and commitment therapy aims to help you dedicate yourself to useful action.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy focuses on how your thoughts affect your feelings and actions. It recognises and addresses unhelpful ideas that perpetuate the issues you encounter. The objective of CBT is for you to experience healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) suggests CBT for alcohol dependence, anorexia nervosa, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Binge Eating Disorder (BED), bipolar disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), bulimia nervosa, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) (ME), depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), schizophrenia, self harm, social anxiety disorder and substance dependence.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You determine what matter regarding your childhood or adulthood you explore. The aim of counselling is to enable you to speak about a problem and discover a solution which is appropriate for you.

Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye movement desensitisation reprocessing directs your eye motions to stimulate how your brain processes data. The technique endeavours to reprocess your locked traumatic recollections. The aim of eye movement desensitisation reprocessing is to desensitise your upsetting memories.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) suggests eye movement desensitisation reprocessing for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Psychology is interested in you and your thoughts, emotions and actions. It offers you psychological treatments and mental wellbeing support. An objective of psychological therapies is to help you ease symptoms.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the problems you confront. It explores your ideas, emotions and relevant moments in your history. Psychotherapy aims to help you develop or find appropriate ways of managing.

Solution Focused Therapy (SFT)

SFT concentrates on finding answers to the issues you encounter. It examines what assists you, and what steps you could make to implement change. The intention of SFT is to help you recognise and use your personal strengths.

Thoughts on Mental Health

Anyone who acts abnormally is going to feel that they get noticed. This stigma can lower their self-esteem, which actually makes it harder to deal with the problem they have. There's very little understanding of anything people don't have personal experience of, or people who are different in any way - in the same way that people who are thin might not understand obesity.
