12+ Years Post-Registration Experience

Hello. I'm Glenn Pennington. I'm a registered psychotherapist - I assist individuals and couples with their emotional wellbeing. I have private sector experience as a psychotherapist. My interest includes Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), as well as the specific issues faced by men.

What to Expect

An introductory assessment meeting allows you to see if you are comfortable with me, discuss what concerns you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and decide if therapy could assist you. Please use a contact option on the right to book a preliminary assessment session in Cavendish, Sudbury.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy concentrates on how your thoughts (cognitions) affect your feelings and actions. It recognises and challenges unhelpful thoughts that perpetuate the problems you experience. The aim of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to experience healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates cognitive behavioural therapy for alcohol dependence, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and panic disorder.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You decide what issue concerning your early years and/or adulthood you discuss. An objective of counselling is to help you to talk about a problem and discover a way forward which is appropriate for you.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends counselling for depression.

Existential Therapy

Existential therapy investigates how you comprehend your existence. It involves deliberation on your perspectives, capacities and choices. Existential therapy seeks to help you find significance in your existence and the issues you encounter.

Integrative Therapy

Integrative therapy combines therapies to fit your preferences and the problems you encounter. It explores your subjective experiences and choices. An aim of integrative therapy is to help you advance your self-understanding.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the problems you face. It considers your ideas, emotions and significant moments in your life. Psychotherapy aims to help you change or find appropriate ways of coping.
