5+ Years Post-Accreditation Experience

Welcome. I am Geoff Baxter. I'm an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) psychotherapist - I support individuals and couples with their mental wellbeing. I have private sector experience as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) psychotherapist.

What to Expect

A preliminary assessment meeting helps you to discover if you are comfortable with me, discuss what troubles you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and assess if therapy may help you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an initial assessment session in Marylebone, London or Hitchin.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on how your thoughts (cognitions) influence your feelings and actions. It identifies and challenges unhelpful ideas which maintain the problems you experience. The objective of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to have healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) suggests cognitive behavioural therapy for alcohol dependence, anorexia nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), bipolar disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), bulimia nervosa, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the problems you confront. It explores your ideas, emotions and relevant moments in your history. Psychotherapy intends to help you change or discover appropriate ways of managing.
