More Detail

Clinical Experience

Welcome. My name is Erna Evans. I am a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited (MBACP Accred) and Registered Counsellor and a UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Registered Psychotherapist - Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist. I assist people, each one unique, to work through their difficulties. My private Therapy consulting room is situated in Folkestone.

I have been a BACP Accredited Counsellor since September 2011 (Registered since September 2011) and a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist since October 2014, so I have over 3 years and 3 months of post-accreditation experience of working with clients. I work with Individuals. I also have experience as a GP Surgery, NHS Primary Care Trust (PCT), NHS Specialist Services and University Counsellor and Psychotherapist.

What to Expect

After an initial consultation in Folkestone, there is no obligation to proceed if you decide not to. We can make use of the supportive environment to assess the current or unresolved past difficulties for which you are considering Counselling, Psychoanalytic Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy or Psychotherapy. I will address any questions you may have. You and I will then be able to decide if my mental health practice is right for you.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You determine which issue regarding your childhood and/or adulthood you discuss. The aim of Counselling is to enable you to talk about a difficulty and find a solution that is appropriate for you.

Psychoanalytic Therapy

Psychoanalytic Therapy concentrates on the unconscious meaning of the problems you experience. It fosters your awareness of some of your unconscious. An objective of Psychoanalytic Therapy is for you to attain personal insight and utilise it if you wish to.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic Therapy centres on the unconscious meaning of the issues you experience. It facilitates you in becoming aware of parts of your inner dynamics. Psychodynamic Therapy seeks to increase your self-comprehension to give you choices.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates Psychodynamic Therapy for Depression.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the difficulties you face. It considers your thoughts, emotions and significant moments in your life. Psychotherapy aims to help you develop or discover appropriate methods of coping.
