More Detail

Over 5 Years Post-Accreditation Experience

Hello. I am Erna Evans. I'm an accredited and registered counsellor and a registered psychotherapist - I help individuals with their mental health. I have private sector experience as a counsellor and a psychotherapist. My focus involves depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and relationship problems, and the particular challenges faced by men, transgender people and women.

What to Expect

An introductory assessment appointment helps you to discover if you feel comfortable with me, discuss what concerns you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and assess if therapy may assist you. Please use a contact option on the right to book an introductory assessment session in Folkestone.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You determine which issue regarding your childhood and/or adulthood you discuss. The aim of counselling is to enable you to talk about a difficulty and find a solution that is appropriate for you.

Integrative Therapy

Integrative therapy selects therapeutic approaches to fit your needs and the problems you encounter. It considers your personal experience and choices. An aim of integrative therapy is to help you develop your self-awareness.

Psychoanalytic Therapy

Psychoanalytic therapy concentrates on the unconscious meaning of the problems you experience. It fosters your awareness of some of your unconscious. An objective of psychoanalytic therapy is for you to attain personal insight and utilise it if you wish to.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy centres on the unconscious meaning of the issues you experience. It facilitates you in becoming aware of parts of your inner dynamics. Psychodynamic therapy seeks to increase your self-comprehension to give you choices.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends psychodynamic therapy for depression.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the difficulties you face. It considers your thoughts, emotions and significant moments in your life. Psychotherapy aims to help you develop or discover appropriate methods of coping.
