More Detail

Over 8 Years Post-Registration Experience

Hi. I'm Melanie. I'm a registered and chartered counselling psychologist - I help individuals and couples with their emotional health. I have private and public sector experience as a counselling psychologist. My focus involves abuse, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and the specific issues experienced by business men and women.

What to Expect

An initial assessment session enables you to discover if you feel comfortable with me, discuss what concerns you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and assess if therapy may help you. Please use a contact option on the right to book an introductory assessment appointment in Camberley.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy concentrates on how your thoughts (cognitions) affect your feelings and actions. It identifies and addresses negative thoughts that maintain the issues you experience. The aim of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to have healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates cognitive behavioural therapy for anorexia nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), bulimia nervosa, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) (ME), Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and self harm.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You determine what issue concerning your childhood and/or adult life you discuss. The aim of counselling is to enable you to speak about a problem and find a way forward that is right for you.

Integrative Therapy

Integrative therapy combines therapies to suit your preferences and the issues you experience. It considers your personal experiences and choices. An aim of integrative therapy is to help you develop your self-understanding.

Psychology is interested in you and your mind, feelings and actions. It offers you psychological interventions and mental wellbeing support. An objective of psychological therapies is to help you ease symptoms.

Solution Focused Therapy (SFT)

SFT focuses on discovering answers to the issues you encounter. It explores what assists you, and what steps you can make to implement change. The purpose of SFT is to help you recognise and use your personal strengths.

Transactional Analysis (TA)

Transactional analysis focuses on the modes you use to interact with yourself and people. It considers the effect of your pre-conscious life strategy and how to improve it. Transactional analysis aims to help you recognise your value and capacity to grow.

Clinical Qualifications

  • British Psychological Society (BPS) Chartered Counselling Psychologist since December 2008
  • Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Registered Counselling Psychologist since October 2008

I abide by the Code of Ethics and Conduct of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Standards of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
