More Detail

Over 3 Years Post-Chartership Experience

Hello. I am John Payne. I'm a chartered psychologist - I assist individuals and couples with their mental wellbeing. I have private sector experience as a psychologist. My interest involves anorexia nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), bulimia nervosa and depression, as well as the particular issues encountered by men, transgender people and women.

What to Expect

A preliminary assessment session enables you to discover if you are comfortable with me, discuss what worries you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and assess if therapy may assist you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an introductory assessment session in Swansea or Gorseinon, Swansea.

Client Centred Therapy

Client centred therapy focuses on understanding and accepting you. It encourages your honesty about the worries you experience. Client centred therapy seeks to help you discover your own solutions.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on how your thoughts (cognitions) affect your emotions and behaviour. It recognises and addresses unhelpful ideas that maintain the problems you encounter. The objective of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to experience healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates cognitive behavioural therapy for anorexia nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), bulimia nervosa, depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), self harm and social anxiety disorder.

Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You determine which issue concerning your early years and/or adult life you explore. An objective of counselling is to help you to speak about a difficulty and discover a solution that is appropriate for you.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy focuses on the unconscious causes of the issues you encounter. It facilitates you in being aware of parts of your internal dynamics. Psychodynamic therapy seeks to enhance your self-comprehension to give you options.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates psychodynamic therapy for anorexia nervosa, depression, self harm and social anxiety disorder.

Psychology is interested in you and your mind, feelings and behaviour. It offers you psychological interventions and mental wellbeing support. An intention of psychological therapies is to help you ease symptoms.
