More Detail

Over 5 Years Post-Registration Experience

Welcome. I am John. I'm a registered clinical psychologist and an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) psychotherapist - I assist individuals and couples with their psychological health. I hold private sector experience as a clinical psychologist and a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) psychotherapist. My focus involves depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), as well as the particular challenges faced by men, transgender people and women.

What to Expect

A preliminary assessment session allows you to see if you are comfortable with me, share what troubles you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and determine if therapy could help you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange a preliminary assessment meeting in Brixton, London or Paddington, London.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy focuses on how your thoughts (cognitions) influence your emotions and actions. It identifies and challenges unhelpful thoughts that perpetuate the issues you experience. The aim of CBT is for you to experience healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends CBT for alcohol dependence, bipolar disorder, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) (ME), depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), self harm and substance dependence.

Psychology is interested in you and your thoughts, emotions and behaviour. It offers you psychological interventions and mental wellbeing support. The objective of psychological therapy is to help you ease symptoms.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the difficulties you confront. It explores your thoughts, feelings and significant moments in your history. Psychotherapy intends to help you change or discover appropriate methods of coping.

"John was very understanding and listened to what I had to say. He gave me good information on strategies to follow to overcome my problems. He did not make me feel inferior or stupid. He boosted my confidence which I had lost."
