More Detail

Over 11 Years Post-Chartership Experience

Hello. I'm Helen. I'm a chartered and registered clinical psychologist - I assist individuals with their emotional wellbeing. I hold private sector experience as a clinical psychologist.

What to Expect

An initial assessment appointment enables you to see if you are comfortable with me, share what troubles you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and assess if therapy could help you. Please use a contact option on the right to book a preliminary assessment appointment in Farringdon, London.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Acceptance and commitment therapy centres on your reactions to your feelings. It fosters your toleration of your physical sensations. ACT seeks to help you dedicate yourself to positive change.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT concentrates on how your thoughts (cognitions) influence your feelings and actions. It recognises and challenges unhelpful ideas which perpetuate the problems you encounter. The objective of CBT is for you to have healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates CBT for alcohol dependence, anorexia nervosa, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Binge Eating Disorder (BED), Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), bulimia nervosa, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) (ME), depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), self harm, social anxiety disorder and substance dependence.

Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR guides your eye movements to affect how your brain processes information. The technique endeavours to reprocess your locked traumatic memories. The objective of eye movement desensitisation reprocessing is to desensitise your painful memories.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends EMDR for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Psychology

Psychology is interested in you and your thoughts, feelings and behaviour. It offers you psychological interventions and mental wellbeing support. The objective of psychological therapy is to help you ease symptoms.
