More Detail

13 Years Post-Chartership Experience

Hello. I'm Gill Hebb. I'm a registered clinical psychologist - I assist individuals and couples with their psychological wellbeing. I have private and public sector experience as a clinical psychologist. My focus includes Binge Eating Disorder (BED), bipolar disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), and the specific problems faced by men and women.

What to Expect

A preliminary assessment session enables you to see if you feel comfortable with me, discuss what troubles you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and assess if therapy could benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to book a preliminary assessment session in Rotherham, Sheffield or Roundhay, Leeds.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy focuses on how your thoughts (cognitions) affect your emotions and behaviour. It identifies and challenges negative ideas which maintain the problems you encounter. The objective of CBT is for you to experience healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates CBT for alcohol dependence, anorexia nervosa, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Binge Eating Disorder (BED), bipolar disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), bulimia nervosa, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) (ME), depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), schizophrenia, self harm and substance dependence.

Narrative Therapy

Narrative therapy focuses on your narrative about your life. It fosters your understanding of your life-story and why it influences you. An objective of narrative therapy is to help you author a different direction for your life.

Psychology is interested in you and your thoughts, emotions and behaviour. It offers you psychological treatments and mental wellbeing support. The intention of psychological therapy is to help you alleviate symptoms.

Psychosexual Therapy

Psychosexual therapy focuses on understanding the sexual difficulties you encounter. When appropriate, you undertake treatment activities privately at your home. Psychosexual therapy seeks to help you alleviate sexual problems.

Solution Focused Therapy (SFT)

Solution focused therapy concentrates on discovering solutions for the issues you encounter. It explores what assists you, and which actions you can take to effect change. The purpose of SFT is to help you recognise and utilise your own strengths.

Systemic Therapy

Systemic therapy concentrates on the system of interactions between you and people. It addresses the interactions which maintain the interpersonal problems you experience. Systemic therapy seeks to help you improve how you communicate with people.

Transactional Analysis (TA)

Transactional analysis focuses on the modes you use to communicate with yourself and others. It considers the impact of your pre-conscious life plan and how to improve it. TA aims to help you recognise your value and ability to grow.
