What to Expect

A preliminary assessment appointment helps you to see if you feel comfortable with me, discuss what concerns you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and determine if therapy may assist you. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT concentrates on how your thoughts influence your feelings and actions. It identifies and challenges negative ideas that maintain the problems you experience. The aim of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to have healthier thoughts and feelings.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates cognitive behavioural therapy for bipolar disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Psychology is interested in you and your mind, emotions and actions. It offers you psychological interventions and mental health support. The objective of psychological therapies is to help you ease symptoms.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the difficulties you face. It explores your ideas, feelings and significant events in your life. Psychotherapy aims to help you change or discover suitable ways of managing.
