More Detail

11+ Years Post-Chartership Experience

Welcome. I'm Emma Bell. I'm a chartered and registered clinical psychologist - I help individuals and couples with their psychological wellbeing. I have private sector experience as a clinical psychologist. My focus includes depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and the specific problems experienced by men and women.

What to Expect

An initial assessment appointment allows you to see if you are comfortable with me, discuss what worries you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and decide if therapy may benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an introductory assessment appointment in Brighton, Hove, Henfield or Steyning.

Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye movement desensitisation reprocessing guides your eye movements to affect how your mind processes information. The technique endeavours to reprocess your locked distressing memories. The aim of eye movement desensitisation reprocessing is to desensitise your upsetting memories.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends EMDR for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Interpersonal Therapy

Interpersonal therapy concentrates on the relationship difficulties you experience. It facilitates you in understanding problems differently. An objective of interpersonal therapy is to help you make helpful changes in how you relate.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates interpersonal therapy for bipolar disorder and depression.

Psychology is interested in you and your thoughts, emotions and actions. It offers you psychological treatments and mental health support. The objective of psychological therapies is to help you alleviate symptoms.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the problems you face. It explores your thoughts, feelings and significant moments in your life. Psychotherapy intends to help you change or discover appropriate methods of coping.
