Over 9 Years Post-Chartership Experience

Welcome. I am Charlotte Curran. I'm an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) psychotherapist and a chartered and registered clinical psychologist - I help individuals with their psychological health. I have private sector experience as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) psychotherapist and a clinical psychologist. My interest involves depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and stress, and the particular challenges encountered by men and women.

What to Expect

An initial assessment meeting enables you to discover if you feel comfortable with me, share what concerns you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and decide if therapy may assist you. Please use a contact option on the right to book an initial assessment meeting in Teddington or Bagshot.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy concentrates on how your thoughts affect your emotions and actions. It identifies and addresses unhelpful ideas that perpetuate the problems you encounter. The objective of CBT is for you to have healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates cognitive behavioural therapy for Binge Eating Disorder (BED), Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), bulimia nervosa, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) (ME), depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Psychology is interested in you and your thoughts, feelings and actions. It offers you psychological interventions and mental wellbeing support. An intention of psychological therapies is to help you ease symptoms.

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the difficulties you face. It explores your ideas, emotions and significant moments in your history. Psychotherapy intends to help you develop or find appropriate ways of coping.

Thoughts on Mental Health

Phil presented with long standing low self esteem, holding on firmly to many negative beliefs about himself such as being a loser and being vulnerable. He reported that his difficulties were having an impact on his ability to form relationships and on his mood. His goals for therapy were identified as wanting to be more confident, wanting to make friends, to be open to the possibility of a relationship again, to be able to assert his needs with others, to feel less anxious, and to be able to think about a new direction in his life going forward.

"Charlotte combines sympathetic and understanding listening qualities with explanations and plans for coping with whatever is troublesome. The CBT approach, to me, is methodological and compelling and Charlotte guided me through the process."
