More Detail

Over 6 Years Post-Registration Experience

Hi. I'm Ben Mead. I'm a registered and chartered clinical psychologist and an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) psychotherapist - I help individuals with their psychological health. I hold private sector experience as a clinical psychologist and a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) psychotherapist. My interest includes depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and relationship problems, as well as the specific challenges encountered by men and women.

What to Expect

An initial assessment session enables you to discover if you feel comfortable with me, discuss what worries you, ask questions, clarify confidentiality, and determine if therapy may help you. Please use a contact option on the right to book an introductory assessment meeting in Shere, Guildford.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Acceptance and commitment therapy focuses on your reactions to your emotions. It encourages your toleration of your physical sensations. Acceptance and commitment therapy seeks to help you commit yourself to useful change.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy concentrates on how your thoughts (cognitions) influence your feelings and behaviour. It recognises and addresses negative ideas that maintain the problems you experience. The objective of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to experience healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates CBT for depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and social anxiety disorder.

Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye movement desensitisation reprocessing directs your eye movements to affect how your brain processes information. The technique attempts to reprocess your frozen distressing recollections. The aim of eye movement desensitisation reprocessing is to desensitise your painful memories.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends eye movement desensitisation reprocessing for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Psychology

Psychology is interested in you and your mind, feelings and behaviour. It offers you psychological interventions and mental health support. An objective of psychological therapy is to help you ease symptoms.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the difficulties you face. It considers your ideas, emotions and relevant events in your life. Psychotherapy aims to help you develop or discover appropriate methods of managing.
