More Detail

Over 12 Years Post-Chartership Experience

Hi. I am Angela. I'm a chartered and registered counselling psychologist and a registered counsellor and psychotherapist - I support individuals, couples and families with their mental wellbeing. I hold private sector experience as a counselling psychologist and a counsellor and psychotherapist. My focus involves depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), relationship problems and self esteem, as well as the particular problems experienced by men, transgender people and women.

What to Expect

A preliminary assessment appointment enables you to see if you feel comfortable with me, discuss what troubles you, ask questions, understand confidentiality, and decide if therapy may benefit you. Please use a contact option on the right to arrange an initial assessment session in Highgate, London or Kings Cross, London.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT concentrates on how your thoughts (cognitions) influence your emotions and behaviour. It recognises and addresses negative thoughts that perpetuate the problems you experience. The aim of CBT is for you to have healthier thoughts and emotions.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends cognitive behavioural therapy for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) (ME), depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), schizophrenia and self harm.

Counselling

Counselling centres on listening to you, and supporting you. You determine which issue concerning your childhood and/or adulthood you discuss. An objective of counselling is to help you to talk about a problem and discover a way forward which is right for you.

Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR guides your eye motions to affect how your mind processes data. The procedure endeavours to reprocess your frozen traumatic memories. The objective of eye movement desensitisation reprocessing is to desensitise your painful memories.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) indicates EMDR for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy centres on the unconscious causes of the problems you encounter. It facilitates you in being conscious of aspects of your internal dynamics. Psychodynamic therapy seeks to increase your self-comprehension to give you choices.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) (England and Wales) recommends psychodynamic therapy for depression and self harm.

Psychology

Psychology is interested in you and your thoughts, feelings and actions. It offers you psychological treatments and mental health support. The intention of psychological therapy is to help you ease symptoms.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you gaining insight into the difficulties you face. It considers your thoughts, feelings and relevant events in your life. Psychotherapy aims to help you change or discover suitable ways of coping.

Solution Focused Therapy (SFT)

SFT concentrates on finding answers to the issues you experience. It explores what assists you, and what steps you can take to implement change. The intention of solution focused therapy is to help you recognise and utilise your own resources.

Systemic Therapy

Systemic therapy focuses on the system of interactions between you and others. It identifies the interactions which perpetuate the relationship conflicts you encounter. Systemic therapy intends to help you enhance how you communicate with others.
